John Stephen for Executive Council

From The Desk of Executive Councilor John A. Stephen – District 4

Monthly Update – January 2025

This past month has been packed with activities aimed at enhancing government efficiency and fiscal responsibility in New Hampshire:

Key Meetings and Initiatives:

  • NH HEFA Meeting: I discussed with NH Health and Education Facilities Authority how we finance non-profits without risking our state’s finances. Institutions like Elliot Hospital and Saint Anselm College benefit from this, and I’m committed to ensuring these efforts deliver maximum value to Granite Staters.
  • Bi-State Primary Care Association: I met with leaders of our Community Health Centers to promote better access to primary care, especially in rural areas. My goal is to make sure these centers provide high-quality, cost-effective health care, directly benefiting our residents.
  • Housing Roundtable: We tackled the slow permit process that hampers housing development. We’re pushing for simpler applications, quick reviews, and accountability to reduce costs and increase affordable housing. For more insights, check out johnstephennh.com/housing-roundtable/.

Public Engagement and Media:

  • Swearing-In Ceremony: I was sworn in alongside new members of the NH Executive Council, focusing on growing the NH Advantage through smarter government operations.
  • Media Appearances: I’ve been actively discussing the need for regulatory reform to address housing shortages, advocating for swift government responses and legislative adjustments for development support.
  • Fiscal Responsibility: I’ve questioned expenditures, such as our state’s membership in certain organizations, to ensure they align with our values and fiscal policies, particularly regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion.

My dedication remains to represent District 4 effectively, ensuring that our state agencies work efficiently for all of us. I’ll keep pushing for what matters to you, keeping our motto Live Free or Die at heart.
